FP3 in Barcelona: Kimi Räikkönen leads before the qualifying tries!

Ferrari outstrips Mercedes (reliability issues for Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas), Red Bull and the very impressive Hulk. Let’s review this last FP session at circuit de Catalunya…

Kimi Räikkönen has signed the best time in 1’20”214 on soft tyres (best S2 and S3=29”857s and 28”276s). Sebastian Vettel has been second (+0”242s ; meilleur S1=22”022s). At 11:50am, Ferrari detected a water leak on his engine and they decided to change his PU before the qualifying tries. Lewis Hamilton has fallen down in third position (+0”381s). Last night, Mercedes didn’t respect the curfew for the first time of the season. They discovered an electrical problem on the PU of Valtteri Bottas. Then, his mechanics had to fix a water leak on the engine. They put him the old engine used at the first four rounds. The winner from Sochi started his working session at 11:52am (P4 ; +0”654s). Max Verstappen keeps his fifth place (+0”811s). Daniel Ricciardo has been sixth (+1”035s). Nico Hülkenberg has been seventh like yesterday afternoon. Felipe Massa, eighth, has been in front of both local heroes (advantage for Carlos Sainz Jr). Romain Grosjean, eleventh, has been followed by his team-mate and both Force India drivers (advantage for Sergio Perez). Daniil Kvyat has been fifteenth. Marcus Ericsson has been classified sixteenth. Lance Stroll has been seventeenth. Jolyon Palmer, Stoffel Vandoorne and Pascal Wehrlein have been at the bottom of the grid. In average, the drivers completed 16 laps in FP3 (max=22 for Esteban Ocon and minimum=7 for Sebastian and Valtteri).
